"Take the train to the plane..." or perhaps more appropriately, the "plain" (in Spain?) with this Johann Strauss, Jr., waltz newly published by Doblinger. It is his only work inspired by autobiographic events (an unrequited love affair between Russian noblewoman Olga Smirnitskaya and himself). Despite enthusiastic public response at its 1860 debut, Strauss rarely performed it after 1861, perhaps of the painful memories it brought back.
