Inspired by the Holy Spirit's infilling of the Church at Pentecost, and by the Reverend Mary Anne Ramsey's words of prophecy centered on Acts II on Pentecost Sunday at Knollwood Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the author-composer'hid those words in her heart' and wrote the anthem in response in July 2006. The Spirit appears in three forms: as refining heat, as invisible air we take in, and as living rivers of nurturance. The shape of the text grows from the small, intimate sacred moments that the Spirit and we share, to the sweeping transformation of our lives as sustained by the Spirit. The multi-faceted relationship with the Spirit we enjoy carves out the sacred spaces of our lives.
